IBM does SAP in a Flash

Have you heard of the IBM v700 Storwize product? It’s IBMs virtualised storage device and it has some great bells and whistles on it. In my mind the greatest is EasyTier which is a technology that uses SSD disk as a sort of cache. Hot blocks of data are automaticaly pulled up off of SAS disks and stored on SSD. SSD are still fairly expensive (allthough this is relative, The cost per IOP is far lower than other types of disk), certainly too expensive to hold all your data on but EasyTier is a way to get SSD performance for the data that is regularly accessed, without having to shell out for the capacity or do any sort of manual planning and tiering.

SAP is perhaps the worlds most used ERP system. SAP is one of the things you want running as fast as possible. This great link from IBM shows how to setup your SAP for maximum benefit from EasyTier.

Get your SAP running FAST FAST FAST and it’s EASY EASY EASY!
